In 1991 we experimented with a Pinotage Cabernet blend for the Cape Independent
Winemakers Guild, to show the public a new approach in winemaking. A blend of 45% Pinotage 45% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Merlot. Explosion of sweet plum flavours intertwine with delicious
black berry fruit and a touch of new leather and elegant violet flavours. The outstanding
contribution of these 3 cultivars is well refined with integrated spicy vanilla oak
flavours. The 2003 Frans Malan Reserve will take you on an unforgettable journey to show
you what a Cape Style blend is all about.
With its long list of accolades, the Simonsig Tiara is fit for a queen – or king! This wine has made its mark by making it into the Top 100 SA Wines with its 2011 vintage.
A Bordeaux-style blend and the flagship wine of the estate, it holds a deep garnet hue. The nose is richly fragranced with blueberry and bramble aromas, boosted by gentle spice and cigar box. If allowed more time to aerate, lovely mulberry fruit and violet come to the fore, joined by lead pencil notes. The palate shows stunning balance and powdery tannins.
