A Mari Ocean Gin

SKU: 21670
A Mari Ocean Gin

The name tells the story - A Mari - originating from Latin, it means 'from the ocean'. And that is exactly the story behind A Mari, they use fresh, cold Atlantic seawater when distilling this beautiful gin.

Now that sounds a bit weird, but ask any distiller - worth his salt - about salt-effect distillation and they will tell you that they usually add a handful of salt to the distilling process. Now why add salt if you are surrounded by two oceans?

This is a great tasting gin, with a beautiful nose. You can enjoy it straight on ice or with a good tonic, but the real beauty of this gin is when shaken with vermouth - you'll get a martini that would make 007 come back for more. Get a bottle of A Mari Ocean Gin, a bottle of vermouth, a shaker and some ice cubes and transform your world!

A Mari : 'from the ocean' in Latin is distilled in a 300 year old copper potstill with Atlantic Ocean water and cape coastal botanicals. It is proudly made in Cape Town.

My favourite SA gin
A citrus forward palate followed by a floral mid palate and a delicate spicy finish- ideal with a light tonic water, a slice of grapefruit and a spring of thyme!

A Local Gem
This is a seasoned gin lover’s gin, for sure. There’s a definite coriander in here, which emerges almost instantly, paired wonderfully with the fynbos aromas and the sweetness and warm citrus notes right through to the finish. Juniper is present throughout, but never in a dominating capacity, rather it supports the entire flavour journey, leaving the mouth oscillating wildly between the fynbos and citrus long after the sip is supped. It’s not a harsh gin by any means and the subtle salty after taste due to distilling with Atlantic Ocean water is the hidden secret ingredient :) A Local Gem!
