The Carinus family have been involved in the South African wine industry for five generations, growing fruit in Stellenbosch and the Swartland, which they supply to some of the country’s foremost award-winning winemakers. In 2011, they decided it was time to use the grapes they grow to make their own wine too, which was the start of Carinus Family Wines. The result is two Chenin Blancs from their Swartland grapes; the Rooidraai Chenin Blanc and the Carinus Chenin Blanc. A Syrah was later added to the Carinus Family Wine collection, made from the grapes grown on their Polkadraai property in Stellenbosch.
