The succulent palate reveals ripe red fruit notes which are beautifully complemented by a savoury oak quality. Juicy tannins are supported by a subtle smokey background making this a masterfully balanced and complex wine. Beautifully smooth and weighty on the mouth, the Backsberg Merlot works exceptionally well with roasted duck with cranberry compote. With careful cellaring, this full flavoured Merlot has an ageing potential of 5-7 years.
