The launch of the Cape Town Gin Route has further cemented the city’s reputation as the unofficial gin capital of the world.
Local and international gin lovers can now experience the buzz along a dedicated inner city route that stretches across 6 kilometres and stops off at 6 prominent distilleries, with a total of 20 gins waiting to be tasted. Captaining the ship is the Pepperclub Hotel & Spa. They are responsible for recognising the opportunity to celebrate the exceptional spirit that is being produced locally – which they proudly argue to be better than its international counterparts! We obviously fully agree with that statement.
The Route is as follows:
Starting the party in Bree Street is the Cape Town Gin & Spirits Company. Visitors can warm up for the journey at their Hidden Door tasting room. The route makes its second stop in the city bowl at rulebreakers Pienaar & Son before crossing the N2 where the route continues in cultural hotspot, Woodstock.
Seen below is André from Pienaar & Son with Andri from New Harbour Distillery.
The New Harbour Distillery is up next, where visitors can try their hand at smithing their own gin creations. After this, a stop on the corner of Shannon & Hopkins Street will treat you to tastings at both Hope on Hopkins and Musgrave Gin. Finally, the route comes to an end at The Woodstock Gin Company.
Guided, full-day tours will be available soon. For now you can shop the route on Cybercellar.com
