The Morgenster brand is quintessentially classic in nature, the approach is always focused on the highest quality. This can be recognized in the olive branch of the estate, one of the best developed nurseries, advancing the industry locally whilst the oils win major awards overseas. The same if not more care is taken in the wine cellar, winemaker Henry Kotze works in consultation with Pierre Lurton who is also a director on the board at Morgenster. Bordeaux cultivars are the dominant plantings on the estate fusing with the owner Giulio Bertrand’s native Italian Super Tuscan cultivar Sangiovese as well as Nebbiolo which are crafted in a separate range. The wines we have highlighted as investment opportunities are limited in production whilst the percentage of cultivars used depend on the best performing Bordeaux grapes harvested and made in great years only.
Pierre Lurton (Left) is known around the globe due to his expertise in Bordeaux cultivars in capacity as Managing Director at two of the best Chateaux, Cheval Blanc & Yquem. Mr. Lurton has been actively involved with Morgenster since the 1999 vintage.
Henry Kotze (Right) has an extensive CV having managed the winemaking process at some of the best local cellars before joining Morgenster in 2009. His goal at Morgenster is to continue the elevation of the brand to the super elite across the world in fine wine.
