As one of South Africa’s longest standing online wine retailers, we are glad to announce that we have launched The #LIQUIDSOCIAL Cybercellar Wine Club! #LIQUIDSOCIAL is a wine subscription service where you can have a wine pack delivered straight to your glass on a monthly or quarterly basis.
The inaugural September packs are curated by Tinashe Nyamudoka of The Test Kitchen. Originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, Nyamudoka arrived in South Africa in 2008 with little to no knowledge about the world of wine. Starting out in the hospitality industry, he quickly took an interest in wine, working as a wine steward at the One & Only. He says of his experience there that it was the perfect opportunity to learn, because he was surrounded by a number of serious professionals and had access to the hotel’s massive wine selection.
As his passion developed, he enrolled with the Cape Wine Academy where he completed the South African Wine Course, Certificate Wine Course, as well as his certificates in Wines of the World and Wine & Food respectively.
It was at the Cape Legends Inter Hotel Challenge where he first had the chance to showcase all he had been learning over the years. He blew everyone away with his knowledge and ended up walking away with the 2013 Wine Steward title. Winning the title gave him the confidence he needed to take his career to the next level, as he’s been doing ever since. He is now the sommelier at The Test Kitchen in Cape Town, known as one of the world’s top 50 restaurants.
Of his selection he says, “I’ve curated a selection of wines which I personally enjoy for different occasions. Whether it’s an everyday wine for the casual sipper, an unusual varietal for the curious explorer, or a fine wine to pair with a meal, customers will find it in the selection I’ve put together.” His role in #LIQUIDSOCIAL does not end with the compilation of the packs. Of his passion, Nyamudoka says, “Wine connects you with other people. As a sommelier, I do not only sell product; I try to incorporate the experience, the story and the passion. This is what
sets Liquid Social apart; the story is weaved into the members’ experience, as is the personality
of the curator.”
