"Syrah is a grape that we both have a soft spot for... We’ve decided to make two Syrahs from two very different soil types, to showcase what Syrah can do in this region. Our second edition is from a warmer site in the Devon Valley. It is planted on a very rich, deep, red soil with a high clay content.' - Mick & Jeanine Craven.
The result is a Syrah that is darker fruit, more dense and moody Syrah than the Craven's other, 'Faure', Syrah. Expect dark berry fruit, lavender, pepper and an inky, density on the palate. It is however still a wine of remarkable finesse and restraint; understated if one considers other Stellenbosch Syrahs.
