From historic South African winery Groot Constantia comes the classically-styled Rood. This red blend is a meticulous mix of cultivars that gives rise to a wine with noticeable sweet strawberry jam and red cherry aromas on the nose rounded out by toasted oak and spice. Succulent flavours of ripe fruit show on the palate, including plums and black cherries, with added chocolate. The tannins are rounded and well incorporated, and the finish is pleasingly persistent. While drinking excellently now, it will develop further over the next 8 years from vintage. Pair with braised guinea fowl or braaied leg of lamb.
This wine is a blend of 32% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Pinotage, 9% Shiraz and 7% Malbec.
