Liefmans Goudenband is a Belgian Oud Bruin-style beer that makes use of mixed fermentation. This process involves beer that has matured for 4 to 12 months being blended with younger beer so that the fermentation starts up again. Red-brown in colour, Goudenband draws you in with inviting aromas of apple, cherries, rhubarb, malt and caramel. The palate is focussed on cherry and apple flavours complemented by woody notes, leading to a finish that suggests raisins and nuts. This beer will do well in your cellar as it improves over time – even after a decade it still tastes fresh!
