Stark-Condé has done an interesting experiment in terroir with its Stellenbosch Syrah by combining grapes coming from two different elevations on their
Jonkershoek Valley farm. The vineyard that is higher up has fine decomposed granite soil, resulting in a wine with elegance and softer tannins, while the less elevated vineyard is rockier, giving rise to a concentrated, more tannic, fruitier wine.
On tasting the final product, you can expect rich, juicy fruit, black olive tapenade and white pepper spice flavours alongside powdery tannins.
