The Storm Ridge Pinot hails from an eastern slope of stony and clay-rich Bokkeveld-shale soils in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The resulting cool climate and low vigour of the vines yields a wine of incredible elegance and linearity. The Hemel-and-Aarde Valley was blessed in the 2016 vintage, not having experienced the same extreme heat and drought as the rest of SA's wine producing regions, these vineyards instead produced grapes of great concentration, fresh fruit and beautiful acidity in 2016. This is clearly seen in winemaker Hannes' beautiful 2016 vintage of Pinot Noirs. The Ridge Pinot shows a voluptuous palate of black cherry fruit and spice with incredibly elegant, fine tannins.
