A bright dark garnet hue, the Tokara Shiraz is an intriguing mixture on the nose of five spice with blackberries and mulberries, and an underpinning of floral notes. There are also touches of dry herbs and fynbos, pointing towards the added Mourvèdre. Upon entry, the wine has obvious flavours of black and bright red fruit. The mid-palate is finely textured and displays a distinct herbaceousness, leading to a fresh, peppery finish. Firm, but unassuming tannins are present.
Enjoy it with pork belly, herb-encrusted lamb, or grilled ostrich and roasted vegetables.
This wine is a blend of 89% Shiraz and 11% Mourvèdre.
