The gentle Atlantic breeze caresses the rolling vineyards at Hermanuspietersfontein wine estate to create truly spectacular nutrient-rich wines. Situated in the mountains near Stanford, this remarkable wine estate is the champion farm of the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative, having been a member since 2007. Natural fauna such as leopards, duikers, reebok, cerval, and baboons roam free over the 320 hectares of the fynbos-rich Hermanuspietersfontein Boerdery. First named in 1855, the Hermanuspietersfontein farm and winery is under the careful control of the Pretorius family, the winemaker Bartho Eksteen, and Gerrie Heyneke. The expanse of land has allowed for an array of Hermanuspietersfontein wines to be produced including Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Semillon, Petit Verdot, Vioginier, Malbec, Nouvelle, Grenache, and finally Mourvedre.
